May 17, 2012 Update

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus,

We are doing well after a couple of very busy months. But we thank the Lord daily for the strength He gives us to continue our various responsibilities. The retreat center, Sunrise Acres, continues to be used for many missionaries to get some R & R. During April and May we have had 28 families here, plus Jill our short-termer and a work team from Calif. And our very good friend, Netty Sinclair visited us for 5 days. She was out from Scotland for the graduation of the first class from the Kapsowar Mission Nurses Training School. She helped to set up this school.

A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to take Paul, our deaf boy, to Nakuru town to have his eyes checked. His teachers kept complaining that he was not seeing well. The Kenyan that did his eyes was so good and patience. He took almost an hour to get Paul to write what he could see on the chart. He now has glasses which seem to be helping. But, he really wanted a watch more than the glasses. Every store we went into after the Dr’s office Paul would point to the watches and his arm. He is around 10 years old. He is a bright boy, but didn’t seem to be learning much in his school, so now we are teaching him at the home. Paul is the taller boy with a cute little guy that loves having his picture taken.

We were delivering the monthly truck full of food to the home. Pictured are some of the children that helped to unload it.

A month ago we were invited to a fund raiser for a church that Roy has helped by drawing the plans and give advice during its construction. It was a very good day: Lots of singing, preaching and watching. Most of the program was done in the vernacular of that tribe, therefore we understood very little. The former president was there and he gave a very good spiritual lesson. They served us all lunch afterwards, maybe close to 800 people.

Thanks for your prayers and interest in our work. God bless each one of you.

PS. We will be in the States from May 24th until June 15th. We will be going to a class reunion and visiting mostly Roy’s family, many of whom he has not seen in over 10 years. Please remember us in your prayers as we have a lot of traveling to do.

Our Love in the Lord, Helen and Roy
