Dec. 9, 2012

Dear Family of EBCCK,

We want to wish you all a very blessed Christmas time as you remember the birth of the our Lord and Savior Jesus of Nazareth. He is indeed the Savior of the World and He will save it in spite of the way things look today. It will take his judgments and his return as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, but some day the earth will be blessed by his rule and the knowledge of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. The wonderful thing is that He is blessing in our lives today and providing us with direction and encouragement. Let me explain.

During this past month EBCCK purchased the property next to the Elma Children’s Centre. It is fourteen acres and will make it possible for the start of a Day High School on the land as early as next Jan. 2014. There will be a need for buildings, grounds development, procurement of permits and staff. But it will be a blessing to the community and to our own children. Please be in prayer for this development. The following is what is proposed and will be discussed in the Board in more detail. We wish to proved technical training in a number of areas along with the required Kenyan High School courses.

Name: Elma Barnett Kamonong High School

Mission:  To provide an affordable Christian based High School Education for the rural community of Kenya, enabling the students to reach their academic potential while learning Biblical truths and wisdom and coming to know Jesus as the Christ: the Son of God.

Vision:  To enable the youth of the rural community of Kenya to obtain knowledge and skills that would empower them to gain employment or higher education and to live godly productive lives as Kenyan Citizens.

Motto: “Knowledge and Wisdom builds Character”

At the present we are upgrading the condition of the two old houses on the Elma Children’s Centre property so staff can use them. Nearly all the children’s beds now have bed boards and we hope to start purchasing good mattress for them. Some furniture for the ACE Mission School is being made here at Sunrise Acres. The land on the Elma Centre site is now growing vegetables and we have just harvested the groundnuts. The cow is doing fine and the hay is in need of cutting. The new land needs to have the small shrubs cleared and the fence repaired. We are hearing that they may move the transformer so we can soon have electricity. It seems we may be wise to purchase a generator to care for our present needs and as a back up for the future.

We want to thank all of you for your support and prayers. You have made it possible for our youth to reach a stage of independence and some are now seeking jobs. One young lady who has been with us for years has just finished her training in “Garment Making” at a Polytechnic. She is a fine girl who has maintained a good Christian habits. We hope to employ her to repair and make our children’s uniforms. This has been in the plans for years. Listen to what she has sent to me: “I have appreciate what you have done for me since when I was in high school up to college. You have given me hope in life and I will improve my family and help the needy people the way you have assisted me. May God bless you so much. I have appreciate what you have done for me and I promise you that I will not let you down. I have a request I want to go home and come back after Christmas so I request you to buy for me a machine, that sew button holes, buttons and flowers. When you buy for me next machine I will appreciate so much because it will be easier for during sewing and it will save time. I will be grateful when you will buy for me.” She was top of her class and the school sent this message: “She is hard working and discipline person. Emily is very ready to learn any new ideas, recommended for any available opportunity.” Emily comes from a very poor back ground and even though her mother is living she is not mentally able to care for herself.

Emily is only one example of the youth you have given hope and opportunity to. Please realize how God is using you. Pray with us that we will be prepared for the cost of the first term school fees coming in January and that we will have God’s guidance in the development of both the Elma Children’s Centre and the High School. We appreciate all of you and wish each of you the blessings of the Lord.

Together in Christ, Roy, Helen, Board, Staff, children and youth of Elma
